I started swimming after the New Year. I go every other day and try not to over do it. There are certain resolutions that are easier than others to accomplish. If you have a lot of long/tedious/complicated goals then it doesn't hurt to make some easier ones, as well. Maybe something as simple as starting to draw or to do some other hobby that you have always wanted to do. Have some easy goals is a good way to stroke your ego a little with accomplishment which is itself a great motivator to reach for more achievements.

This is a very inspiring post, Michele. In order to bring positive change into your life, you have to focus your attention on what you enjoy. Failures are part of our lives but these should not be the main focus of our existence. If we allow ourselves to be consumed by disappointment, we will find it hard to bounce back. It's good to go through the whole spectrum of emotions but at one point, we have to pick up the pieces again and move on.

Reminds me of that old song: "...pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again."

That works for me, most of the time. But I do notice occasionally that when I am really worn out from a long term challenge, my energy level for "bouncing back" is just not there. Sometimes I have to wait, catch a breath, whatever, before I can bounce back. The key is not to wait too long, or you end up wallowing in self-pity, or get into an idle groove, which can be hard to pull out of.
